Schools in Iowa should follow the following procedures
Educational entities which represent schools teaching Project Lead The Way courses must register with PLTW and sign the required School District Agreement.
- This agreement outlines the legal responsibilities that bind the school district to PLTW with regard to curriculum, instruction, teacher and counselor professional development, designated software leasing and other components.
Schools that do not teach PLTW courses at their site, but instead send students to other institutions for PLTW instruction, do not have to have to register or have a signed agreement with PLTW.
- These schools do however have the obligation of actively promoting enrollment for these courses at the instructing sites. University of Iowa/Iowa State PLTW school counselor training is intended to assist in this enrollment responsibility, and counselors from sending institutions are strongly encouraged to participate.
- These schools will be linked in the PLTW data base to the instructing institutions for purposes of accountability beginning in the fall of 2008.
When a School that does not currently teach PLTW courses at their site decides to begin teaching one or more PLTW course at their site, they must register with PLTW and sign the required School District Agreement.
