myPLTW Learning Management System Update: Removal of 2013-14 Teacher Course Shells and Sandboxes on Jan. 15, 2015
On Jan. 15, 2015, the 2013-14 teacher course shells and Sandboxes will be removed from the myPLTW Learning Management System (LMS). Teachers should complete the transfer of any content they wish to carry over from their 2013-14 course shells into their 2014-15 course shells. Any content not transferred by Jan. 15 will be lost.

Student Rostering for 2014-15 School Year is Now Open!
Rostering for the 2014-15 school year is now open! All PLTW Launch, PLTW Gateway, PLTW Engineering, PLTW Computer Science, and PLTW Biomedical Science students need to be rostered by the PLTW District Administrator, School Administrator, or Principal. Once students are rostered, teachers can enroll them into the PLTW Learning Management System (LMS).

Are you interested in serving as a Master Teacher during the 2015 Core Training Institutes?
The application window for Master Teachers (new and returning) will open on Monday, Dec. 8. Please consider pursuing candidacy for a 2015 Summer Core Training Institute appointment. A general outline of the application process for both returning and new Master Teachers can be found under "Professional Development" on the pltwiowa.org website.

PLTW Assessment Program Update: Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) Released Sample End of Course (EoC) Items
As promised, the PLTW Assessment Program has rolled out the Introduction to Engineering Design (IED) released sample End of Course (EoC) items. These released items will provide both teachers and students with an opportunity to experience the types of questions that are found on the EoC assessment, as well as understand the level of rigor of the EoC.

STEM Education Award for Inspired Teaching
Did you know that for every 3.4 STEM jobs in Iowa, there is only one STEM-qualified job seeker? And over the next 10 years, the number of STEM-related jobs will increase by 16 percent! Filling these roles with qualified candidates is crucial to Iowa’s economic growth, and it all starts with inspiring students to pursue STEM fields. The Governor’s STEM Advisory Council and Kemin have teamed up to honor teachers who are inspiring Iowa’s students to develop a passion for STEM subjects. We want you to nominate a STEM educator who understands this need and motivates students to succeed in STEM.
